November 16, 2012 - update

here are times in our lives when we struggle with decisions and I am facing such a time now. With great sadness and a hole in my heart, I am canceling my annual run across Long Island this year.

Super hurricane Sandy has caused extraordinary damage to Long Island and the New York area and I feel that my annual run would be a distraction to the ongoing, generous fundraising for "Sandy" victims. I prefer doing my run at a time when I can provide a greater benefit for my cause.

I have struggled a great deal with this decision; I had discussions with the LI breast cancer organization and many of my friends. I want everyone to know that I am not abandoning those who suffer from breast cancer. I will be back next year. Right now I am focusing my energy on volunteering to help those affected by the hurricane get back to their normal lives.

I know that many of you support breast cancer research through my run across Long Island. Please join me by continuing to make contributions directly to the LI2DW organization so they can have the funds necessary to help those who suffer from breast cancer.
