To my Support Crew, I would like to say Thank You to each of you 237,284 times; this is the number of steps I took during my 120-mile run across Long Island, according to my Chinese pedometer. Doing this run without you it would not have been the same. I am glad that you put aside the comfort of your home to come and “have fun” with me. Every day we are given the opportunity to spend our time in a useful way…I hope you feel good about being part of this breast cancer fund raising event. For many people who are not familiar with existence of ultra running, such distances are puzzling. Oddly, when I see others running early in the morning or late at night, this puzzles me in a very similar way. Somehow, I always separate myself, Alicja, from the person that I become when I start a challenging run or race. This run across Long Island is very special for me. Being a woman, I can’t even begin to imagine the thoughts and feeling that go along with being diagnosed with breast cancer. My way of thinking is that any help I can provide to those in need is, and will be always be, welcome. We did this run together. Thank you, 237,284 times, Stan, Anne, Francisco, Eustratia, Lydia, Frank, Dana, and Gosia – well done my friends!
