03.25.2009 Coming up Charity run across Long Island-May 2, 2009

Hello Friends,

My Third Annual Run across Long Island will take place May 2, 2009 where I will embark on a 120-mile non-stop run to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. You may ask: 'What does a 120-mile no-stop run mean?' It means running day and night until the 120 mile mark is reached!

You may ask: 'Why Long Island?'

My answer will be: 'Women in Long Island have one of the highest rates of breast cancer. Long Island is a quite long for an ultra runner as me. In Long Island, there is a great non-profit organization that every year in June organize a charity 30 miles two-days walk and the organization?s name is 'Long Island 2 Day Breast Cancer Walk'. From the comfort of your home, please help those who fight this disease and donate whatever you can to this cause. 100% of your contribution goes directly to breast cancer survivor support services and research. Please read the attached flyer. Donations can be mailed to LI2DAYBCW, P.O. Box 506 Nesconset, NY, 11767 or made online at www.li2daywalk.org. Please make sure to write my name Alicja Barahona or AB8482.

I will greatly appreciate it if you can pass this information to your family, friends, and co-workers. Thank you so much, Alicja

PS. if you would like to run with me part of the way and need details about my start and the approximate times I will reach different locations along the route, please send me an email at: alicjabarahona@yahoo.com If you don't know me, please read my very amateur webpage www.sahararunner.com , Alicja - see the attached flyer!! - whole letter is here
