ALICJA BARAHONA
ULTRA ‘EXTREME’ RUNNER Alicja was born in Poland, but moved to Canada in 1981 where she became a Canadian citizen. Since 1991 she lives in New York where she works as a scientist at Pharmaceutical Company. She is also the US citizen. She only came to running in 1996, having been a keen and successful tennis player, but soon found that she was better suited to long ultra distances where she has won notable successes in a number of world-class races. She races from the extreme cold of the Alaskan winter to the burning furnace of the Sahara. Her ambition now is to continue to test herself to the limit and to reach for the answer to the final capabilities of her mind and body.
